Situated in the heart of Fremont, Pearl Bay stands out as a premier Chinese restaurant offering an authentic and elevated dim sum and Cantonese dining experience. Formerly known as Asian Pearl, this spacious and brightly-lit venue is perfectly suited not just for casual dining but also for large Chinese celebrations such as weddings, ensuring a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere that invites you to relax and savor every bite.

Pearl Bay’s menu presents a masterful array of traditional favorites and chef-driven specialties that excite the palate with every course. As you begin, indulge in their legendary dim sum selections—especially the melt-in-your-mouth 蝦餃 (shrimp dumplings), the tender 烤叉燒包 (roasted BBQ pork buns), and their standout daikan (turnip) cake alongside water chestnut and taro cakes. These delicacies bring a perfect balance of texture and flavor, offering crispness, savory richness, and subtle sweetness that linger delightfully.

The culinary journey continues with executive chef’s recommendations, which uniquely combine comforting and luxurious elements. The Clay Pot Braised Beef Brisket & Turnip Soup delivers deep, soulful warmth that showcases well-braised textures and layered flavors. Meanwhile, dishes such as Braised Whole Abalone & Goose Feet in Supreme Oyster Sauce and Deluxe Mixed Seafood & Tofu reflect Pearl Bay’s commitment to premium ingredients and traditional techniques, elevating every bite with rich, refined sauces and perfectly cooked fresh seafood.

For those who appreciate lighter yet satisfying options, Pearl Bay offers specialties like Lobster with Ginger and Steamed Black Cod, where delicate seafood flavors are emphasized by the careful use of aromatic spices and silky textures. The palate-cleansing desserts such as Mango Pudding, Coconut Jelly, and Swan Durian Puff provide a sweet finale, smoothly balancing the meal with refreshing and fragrant notes.

Customers consistently praise the attentive and prompt service that complements the upscale yet welcoming ambiance. The dining room’s openness, paired with clean and convenient parking, creates an overall stress-free experience, allowing guests to focus solely on the exquisite food and enjoyable company.

Long-time visitors like Jeffrey Bialy, who brings decades of dim sum expertise from New York to China and beyond, regard Pearl Bay as a rare gem whose offerings stand up to international standards of excellence. Meanwhile, diners such as Katrina appreciate its unique inclusion of harder-to-find delicacies like water chestnut and taro cakes, which distinguish Pearl Bay from many other dim sum venues in the Bay Area.

This place used to be called Asian Pearl and is changed to Pearl Bay. Inside is big and bright, suitable for any Chinese events such as weddings. Food is decent. The Turnip (Daikon) Cake (Lo Bak Go), Water Chestnut cake and the Taro cakes are all excellent. Not all the dim sum restaurants have the water chestnut cake and taro ones, this is one of the places that serve them and make them very well. Their black sesame rolls are good too. It is hard to find at other Chinese restaurants too. Their lettuce with garlic is great. Their steamed dim sum (such as Har Gow or anything with the white skins outside) isn't as good. The outside skins are thick and they are supposed to be thin. The Fung Jao (chicken feet) are also so-so, not tender enough. I have had better elsewhere. The fried chicken wings are disappointing. The bathroom is not that clean. Wish they keep it in much better shape considering the restaurant's dining area is so nice and elegant.

5 tables of 10 each. Banquet menu with about 9 dishes. Food and service was very good. Winter melon soup was tasty but could have been temperature hotter. All other dishes were well executed. Recommended!

Pearl Bay Restaurant is one of the better dim sum restaurants I like in the Bay area. Most dim sums are better than average, but they're pricy. I guess you get what you paid for, which is true most of the time. The service is good compared to the average Chinese restaurant. The dining room is new and comfortable, with lots of noise, as all the dim sum restaurants do. The parking lot is clean and safe. I feel very comfortable to park my car there.

We two arrived around 11 on Saturday and were seated right away. Dim sum was served in timely manner and really tasty. We waited the roasted duck a bit too long that we even considered canceling it. The food quality was good, and the service was fast; although the price was matching the Koi Palace, which meant a little high.

Have been enjoying this dim sum gem for several years now when visiting family in the Bay Area, and it is unquestionably the most delicious I have had the privilege of encountering. I say this having grown up in Flushing, Queens and living in both Mainland China (and Hong Kong) for over twenty years since. I have been eating dim sum weekly for probably 45 years or more. I have been to Michelin rated dim sum restaurants and the most famous/notable eateries in both NYC and San Francisco. Pearl Bay is hands down my favorite. It has a really extensive choice of dishes. The food is fresh and uses some really high quality ingredients. My only (small) criticism is the quality of the hot sauce, which I prefer mixed with red bean paste rather than sriracha. But next time I may bring my own. This place is perfect for large parties. You can make reservations too, so why are you waiting?! And the staff are lovely, both friendly, quick and accommodating. Will gladly look forward to returning at some point in the future. Thank you (again) Pearl Bay!

Simply the best Chinese restaurant in the east bay. My grandparents love to come here, and the food is always very tasty, with family sized portions. It’s a huge restaurant that is pretty fancy with good service too. Highly recommended!

Great food. A little noisy the day I was there because of a wedding banquet on the main room and several Birthday gatherings where my party was seated
